Volodymyr Stefanyshyn MD

Dr. Volodymyr Stefanyshyn is a Medical Geneticist and Neurologist with a clinical and research focus on neuroimmunology, neurodevelopmental disorders, rare diseases, and precision medicine. He is the Founder and Managing Director of the Neuroimmunology Clinic VIVERE in Kyiv, Ukraine, where he leads the evaluation and management of children and adults with complex neurological, genetic, autoimmune, and neuroinflammatory conditions.

Dr. Stefanyshyn’s clinical approach integrates medical genetics, neurology, immunology, and advanced molecular diagnostics to identify underlying mechanisms of complex neurological and neurodevelopmental disorders and translate these findings into individualized treatment strategies. A substantial part of his clinical practice is dedicated to children with autism spectrum disorder and other neurodevelopmental conditions, particularly cases in which genetic, metabolic, mitochondrial, folate-related, or immune-mediated mechanisms may contribute to the clinical phenotype.

A major area of Dr. Stefanyshyn’s scientific interest is cerebral folate deficiency and the genetic regulation of folate metabolism in neurodevelopment. He is currently a PhD candidate in Medical Sciences at Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine. His doctoral research focuses on folate-dependent genetic regulation and personalized approaches to the diagnosis and management of children with neurodevelopmental delays. His published research includes investigation of the association between the SLC19A1 genetic variant, autism spectrum disorder, cerebral folate deficiency, and related clinical and laboratory parameters.

Dr. Stefanyshyn also has extensive clinical interest in neuroimmune mechanisms underlying neurological and neurodevelopmental disease. His work includes the evaluation of autoimmune and neuroinflammatory conditions and the integration of immunological findings with genetic and neurological assessment. His research has also addressed immunotherapeutic approaches in patients with genetic abnormalities of the folate cycle and immune dysfunction involving NK and NKT cells.

Dr. Stefanyshyn is President of the Ukrainian Association of Neuroimmunologists and is actively involved in multidisciplinary clinical collaboration, genetic counseling, translational research, and the implementation of advanced molecular and cytogenetic diagnostics in clinical practice. Through his work, he aims to bridge genetics, neuroimmunology, and precision medicine to improve the diagnosis and treatment of patients with complex neurodevelopmental and neurological disorders.”
